Ford recently revealed a teaser image of the electric F-150 while announcing the company’s new Rouge Electric Vehicle Center. From the looks of it, Ford seems to have followed Rivian and Tesla’s footsteps to come up with a bold truck that doesn’t look to share a lot of similarity with the internal combustion-engined crop of trucks. It’s too soon to comment, but it looks, well, weird.

Is This How It Will Look In The Night?

Looks are subjective, and this is just a teaser image, but the electric F-150 looks quite different. A full-width lightbar up front is bound to draw polarizing opinions. The diamond-grille looks quite different from the standard F-150 models, but we’ll wait for more images to roll out to see how it looks exactly. The sculpted hood could give it a strong street presence and underneath could be a pretty large frunk to store work tools and other stuff.

Ford’s New Facility For Electric Vehicles

Ford announced that it will be investing $700 million that will go towards constructing the new Rogue Electric Vehicle Center and manufacturing new vehicles. The center will be the birthplace of the electric F-150 as well as the F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid. The construction of the new facility will also add 300 jobs.

Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company, said in a statement,

Final Thoughts

There is a horde of loud electric trucks already, like the Tesla Cybretruck, Rivian R1T, etc., so Ford could’ve perhaps taken the subtle route and offered a more mainstream-looking truck that is reminiscent of the standard F-150 itself. But, it looks like the company wants to make a statement with the electric truck and not have any similarities with the fuel-powered sibling other than the F-150 moniker. The electric F-150 will arrive in 2022.

Two schools of thought here. Which one do you resonate with? A bold model, or a sedate, simple-looking electric F-150? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
