The Ferrari SP48 Unica Is More Than Just An F8 Tributo With A Makeover
Ferrari’s latest one-off, the SP48 Unica, shares very little with the F8 Tributo, which it is based on - here are all the differences and similarities
by Dim Angelov, on LISTEN 00:39Ferrari recently unveiled its latest one-off model - the SP48 Unica. The unique model was specially made for an old customer of the company who was involved in the development, headed by Chief Design Officer, Flavio Manzoni. Underneath the "skin", lies the platform of the Ferrari F8 Tributo. Make no mistake, however, the SP48 Unica is, for the most part, a completely different animal, and we’ll show you all the differences and what little similarities there are.
The design of the Ferrari SP48 Unica one-off is designed through procedural-parametric 3D modelling techniques. The method is used to completely redesign the front grille and air intakes
The Ferrari F8 Tributo, which is the basis for the SP48, features a more conventional grille with fewer but larger openings
The aggressive stance of the F8 Tributo is the other exterior feature that carries over to the SP48 Unica
The canopy design of the F8 Tributo resembles that of its predecessor - the 488, and the 458 before it
In contrast, the SP48 Unica’s canopy is similarly styled to the 2019 P80/C - a track-only special, based on the 488
The quad-round taillgihts of the F8 Tributo are reminiscent of older V-12 models like the 356 GTB, 456 GT, and 550 Maranello
The Ferrari SP48 Unica is not as nostalgic as it features a much thinner version of the quad-taillights
While Ferrari hasn’t given any information, it is believed that the F8 Tributo’s 3.9-liter twin-turbo V-8 is powering the one-off Unica
The interior of the SP48 Unica is a carry-over from the F8. However, it has been completely reupholstered. There’s also a new rearview screen
