Bugatti will build only 60 Chiron Pur Sport models and the first one just dropped on U.S. soil
by Ciprian Florea, on LISTEN 02:44Bugatti introduced the Chiron Pur Sport, a handling-focused version of the Chiron, in March 2020, but it took the French company until January 2021 to deliver the first customer car. And that’s not surprising given that all Chirons are hand-built and that Bugatti’s factory is rather small. The world’s first Chiron Pur Sport was delivered in the United States and it’s downright gorgeous thanks to its two-tone exterior finish and brightly colored interior.
Although white isn’t necessarily a spectacular color — and it’s not that common on a Bugatti either, the French company created a tasteful livery by pairing Quartz White with Grey Carbon. The latter covers areas like the side skirts and lower rear fenders, the lower front bumper, and the mirror caps. But this Chiron also features a front hood stripe in the same finish, as well as a roof and various other surfaces in grey-tinted carbon-fiber. Finally, it was also fitted with Gun Powder accents on the roof, grille, and mirror caps.
An optional Sky View roof allows natural light to enter the cabin and brighten up the Italian Red leather and matching Alcantara inserts. The black finish of the center stack and the instrument cluster surround provides and striking contrast and helps the red upholstery stand out even more.
As a brief reminder, the Chiron Pur Sport features the same quad-turbo, 8.0-liter W-16 engine as the regular Chiron, so it packs 1,479 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. But it’s not entirely identical to the regular Chiron. Thanks to a 15-percent shorter transmission ratio, the Pur Sport is a tad quicker from 0 to 62 mph. While the Chiron hits the benchmark in 2.4 seconds, the Pur Sport slashes a tenth-second and gets there in 2.3 clicks. The engine’s redline increased from 6,700 to 6,900 rpm.
Engine | quad-turbo, 8.0-liter W-16 |
---|---|
Horsepower | 1,479 HP |
Torque | 1,180 LB-FT |
0 to 60 mph | 2.4 seconds |
The Chiron Pur Sport also features revised aerodynamics and a fixed wing, both improving downforce and lateral dynamics. Thanks to the fixed wing, a 3D-printed titanium exhaust, and extensive use of lighter materials inside the cabin, the Pur Sport is around 110 pounds lighter than the standard Chiron.
Bugatti plans to build only 60 units. While it won’t be the rarest version of the Chiron, it’s still only a fraction of the nameplate’s already limited production run of 500 examples. The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport starts from a whopping €3 million (about $3.6 million) before taxes and options.
