The First Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Delivered Features "Vagues de Lumière" Paintwork
Well, that’s one way to a unique supercar even more special
by Alina Moore, onThe Chiron Super Sport was announced back in June 2021 as a more comfortable, daily driver version of the Super Sport 300+. The model is limited to only nine units, and, despite its €3.2 million sticker price, all units have been spoken for in a matter of minutes after the official launch.
Now, nine months later the first customer finally received his Chiron Super Sport. And, of course, this is no "ordinary" Super Sport. Since the customer wanted to make its special supercar even more unique, he asked for a special treatment from Bugatti’s Sur Mesure customization program.
The customer opted for a bespoke "Vagues de Lumière" paintwork - a hand-painted pattern that mimics the way lights reflect off Chiron Super Sport’s curved panels.
Under the hood, the Super Sport retains the same 8.0-liter, W-16 engine with a quad-turbo setup from the base Chiron, but the output has been increased to 1,578 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. The car goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds, up to 124 mph in 5.8 seconds, and to 186 mph in 12.1 seconds. The top speed is rated at an impressive 273 mph.
Christophe Piochon, President of Bugatti Automobiles, commented: "It’s extremely exciting to be witnessing the first customer units of the Chiron Super Sport come together within our Atelier. Hearing brand new 8.0-liter W16 engines fire up for the first time, knowing that they are soon to become a centerpiece of our customers’ collections across the globe is a personal highlight. The experience of driving a Chiron Super Sport cannot be compared to anything else the automotive industry has to offer, and we very much look forward to our customers covering many unforgettable miles behind the wheel."
