For what it’s worth, the Rolls Royce still maintains its exclusivity and reeks of retro, luxurious vibes

Electrification has taken over almost every brand and every segment. The very few that are left are now on the verge of going through the same process. One of those few brands left untouched was Rolls Royce, but not anymore. Lunaz, a U.K.-based tuning and conversion company has laid its hands on a 1961 Phantom V and given it the electrified treatment. Lunaz will be building just 30 iterations, but is restoring a classic car like this one in an electric avatar a true celebration?

Lunaz has decided to work on the 1961 Rolls Royce Phantom V.

The conversion includes restoration from the ground up and not just swapping the original ICE with an electric powertrain.

The company mentioned that every car is 3-D scanned, weighed, and then fully-restored before the conversion even begins. There are no creative changes made to the structure of the car on the outside. Lunaz has opted for a contemporary two-tone color scheme – Midland Grey on the upper half and Cinereous Grey on the lower.

Step inside the car and you’ll be welcomed to the period-specific seat layout setup. This eight-seater can seat three occupants in the front, three in the back, and two on the occasional jump seats. The interior theme is crafted by Lunaz’s in-house design team and complements the exterior shade of this classic car. The company has made use of sustainable leather in Argent Grey that echoes the exterior theme. The rear floor mats are custom made in Alpaca wool. It is said to be rarer than cashmere and softer than the Lambswool that Rolls-Royce offers in the Cullinan.

A pink bakelite telephone sits between the rear occupants and is retained for nostalgic purposes. The pink treatment continues on the door grab-handles as well. Lunaz has even restored the original woodwork and given it a satin treatment with rose gold inlays. There is a privacy division to separate the driver and the rear occupants, thus suggesting that this car is better off as chauffeur-driven.

In terms of technology, Lunaz has installed an infotainment system with satellite navigation in the front, and two screens for the rear occupants.

The audio system can be split between the front and rear compartments. For the connoisseur in you, Lunaz has also built a bar service in the center console that can house a beverage of their choice, and the dimensions of the packaging for the same can be given to the company so it can build the space accordingly.

The powertrain details haven't been revealed, but Lunaz has said that the Phantom will receive a 120 kWh battery pack that is good to go for about 300 miles.

As for the price, Lunaz is charging £500,000 for this build, which is approximately $654,250 as per the conversion rates at the time of penning this article.

Lunaz is also offering the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud in both fixed head and convertible body styles across Silver Cloud I, II, and III models. These are already reserved by consumers across the globe. The company equipped an 80 kWh battery pack in this one which can last for 300 miles, too. The classic Silver Cloud build is priced at £350,000, which is approximately $458,000.

For now, electric and internal combustion engine cars are co-existing, but the trend will change within a few years. This time, it’s the classic Phantom V. Next it’ll be some other loved car.
