The new Hummer EV has been on a roll ever since it was officially announced. The momentum and hype just don’t seem to die. The Hummer EV that went under the hammer is the top limited-spec Edition 1. It boasts of the VIN 001, which means it’s the first-ever retail production vehicle. The truck was sold at Barrett-Jackson auction on 27th March for a whopping $2.5 million. All the proceeds go to Tunnel To Towers Foundation established in memory of 9/11 first-responder, Stephen Siller.

The auction was held in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Hummer EV was accompanied by the 2021 two-door Ford Bronco First Edition with the VIN 001 which sold for $1.1 million.

The proceeds of this sale would go to National Forest Foundation and Outward Bound, which provides outdoor experiences for young people. The auction witnessed multiple other cars going under the hammer and by the end of the night, $5.8 million went to charities. The other VIN 001s to feature at this auction include:

-* Mustang Mach 1 –$500,000

-* Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition - $410,000

-* Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing - $265,000

-* Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing – $165,000

Barrett-Jackson often holds auctions for first and units of such desired monikers. Even though $2.5 million is a huge amount, it isn’t the highest. The Corvette C8, Chevy’s first mid-engined car, went for $3 million, whereas the final front-engine Corvette C7 was sold for $2.7 million. The C8 was purchased by Rick Hendrick, the NASCAR team owner. VIN 001 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 also went under the hammer in 2020 and was sold for $1.1 million.
