The Sabre is 70-percent a new car, so how about that?

The Sabre is McLaren’s most powerful non-hybrid supercar, only 15 units are slated for production, and it was built by MSO. Can it get more special than that? Well, yes. The answer is yes.

Rumor has it that the McLaren Sabre can hit 218 mph. We’re not surprised, given that it looks like the Senna and the Speedtail had a child. However, there’s more than meets the eye.

In the Sabre, McLaren's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 makes 824 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque.

At the same time, that’s all we know about its performance prowess, as the supercar make is tight-lipped on the topic. Lucky for us, the Sabre paid Mr. JWW a visit, together with Neil Underwood, the global sales manager of McLaren Special Operations (MSO).

One big trait of the Sabre is that it let the customer pick the colors, even the carbon fiber tinting, and the treatment on the interior. So no two Sabres will be alike, let’s make that clear right off the bat. That’s because a group of customers from the West Coast approached McLaren’s MSO division basically saying "look, we’ve got this vision of a road-legal supercar, can you make it happen for us?"

Then what McLaren did was round up its designers to see if they can respond positively to those customers’ desires. As it turns out, the design team didn’t come short and managed to deliver a shrink-wrapped package that abides federal standards - so the car is road legal only in the United States.

What’s also even more interesting in the video is that when asked about what platform underpins the Sabre, Neil Underwood only mentions Ultimate Series and that the car is 70-percent new. From then on, the MSO man starts explaining why the car looks the way it does while giving out a handful of even spicier details.

Check them all out in the video below.

Tudor’s first encounter with cars took place when he was only a child. Back then, his father brought home a Trabant 601 Kombi and a few years later, a Wartburg 353. At that time, he was too young to know how they worked and way too young to drive them, but he could see one thing – each of them had a different ethos and their own unique personality. As time went on, he started seeing that in other cars as well, and his love for the automobile was born.  Read More
