After plenty of rumors and speculation, Ford finally brought the Maverick name back in June 2021. While the initial model - built between 1970 and 1977 - was offered as a two-door sedan and then as a four-door sedan, the new generation of the nameplate lands on a truck. Ford had to go with the market's requests, of course. On sale at a starting price of $19,995, the Maverick is not only the cheapest, but it is also the smallest truck in Ford lineup and is placed under the Ranger. This doesn't stop Ford from improving its off-road capabilities - just like it did with Maverick's bigger brothers: the Ranger and the F-150. As of today, the XLT and Lariat trims of the Maverick can be updated with the addition of a new Tremor Off-Road Package that will add another $2,995 to the truck's final price, but it represents a massive value for the money.

What's Included in the Maverick's Tremor Off-Road Package?

The new Tremor package will add a few distinctive design features that will make it easier to differentiate from the rest of the lineup. On the exterior, it has a unique grille finish, blacked-out Ford logos, headlamps, and taillamps. The two front tow hooks have Tremor Orange accents. If you want the truck to have an even more aggressive look, you can add the Tremor Appearance Package for another $1,495. This includes a carbonized, Gray-painted roof and mirror caps, plus black side graphics on the hood and lower body. The Maverick Tremor will ride on unique 17-inch aluminum wheels featuring a new Tremor Orange and dark gray anodized finish and wrapped in standard all-terrain tires.

There will be a few updates done to the interior too, but they will be minimal. You will spot the same Tremor Orange accents on the center console, the register vents, and the door pulls. The seats will have contrasting stitching plus the Tremor logo stitched in the same Tremor Orange finish.

Powertrain and Suspension

Just like with the Raptor and the F-150, the Maverick Tremor will get a special Trail Control function recalibrated to offer better acceleration and improved traction off-road. The truck will also benefit from unique front and rear springs and shocks, while the ride height is increased by one inch. There is also a heavy-duty transmission cooler and upgraded half-shafts.

As is the case with the standard Maverick, the Tremor has a maximum tow rating of 2,000 pounds and a payload rating of 1,200 pounds.

What powers the Maverick equipped with the Tremor package?

The Tremor package can be ordered for XLT and Lariat series trucks equipped with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine and the all-wheel-drive system. This means the truck will deliver a total of 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. All the power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The Maverick's all-wheel-drive system has five selectable drive modes that will make the truck easier to handle on pavement, mud, sand, or snow, but it will also improve its towing capabilities when needed.

How much does the Tremor package cost?

The new Tremor Off-Road Package is priced at $2,995, while the Tremor Appearance Package adds another $1,495. Both will be available for ordering in September.
