Ever since the Tesla Model S Plaid came out, it has been on a spree, embarrassing every other car it faces in straight-line races. Tesla came out with the performance Plaid version of its SUV, the Model X as well, sometime back. While it might not be as quick as its sedan sibling, it is still mighty quick to take on some of the hottest supercars from the present era. Its latest rival – or shall we say, a victim – is the Lamborghini Huracan EVO, and the Model X Plaid shows no mercy whatsoever.

How Much Power Do These Cars Make?

A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox powers all fours wheels. It is equipped with Pirelli PZero tires and has no mods made to it. The supercar weighs 3,645 pounds. The Huracan EVO costs $304,000, which is a hell lot more than the Model X Plaid’s price of $124,000.

The Tesla Model X Plaid comes with the same setup as the Model S Plaid. (Tesla hasn’t officially revealed the torque figure, but assuming it’s the same as the Model S Plaid). The three electric motors work in tandem to power all four wheels. It tips the scales at 5,333 pounds, making it almost 1,700 pounds heavier than the Italian supercar.

How Often Do You See A Lambo Race As An Underdog?

The Model X Plaid won the first race fair and square. Brooks in the electric SUV had a slightly slower reaction time which let the Lamborghini get its nose ahead of the starting line. However, that didn’t pose any problems as the Model X Plaid kept going at it to score an emphatic win. The drag strip times showed that the Model X Plaid finished the race in 9.903 seconds at 144.84 mph. The Huracan EVO took 10.964 seconds at 129.55 mph to run the same distance.

Here are the times as per Dragy:

Conclusion

Overall, a fun race where we got to see that it’s not just the Model S Plaid that’s been wreaking havoc on the drag strip; its SUV sibling is just as ridiculous. If you would’ve told me 10 years back that a three-row family SUV will one day make a mockery out of an Italian supercar, I would have laughed at you. But, we live in a time where EVs are changing the whole game.

EVs still don’t have a fan following, but if you had to pick one of these, which one would it be? Watch the video below and share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
