What happens when you cram thousands of wealthy people, heaps of amazing cars, and enough events to cover a whole week together? You get the greatest week of the year: the Monterey Car Week. You never know what you’re going to see. With auctions from names like Russo & Steele, Mecum, Gooding & Co., and RM Sotheby’s, there’s a massive guest list that includes some of the greatest cars ever built. But, over at Pebble Beach, things take a completely different turn, with this year bringing cars like the BMW Concept Z4 and Infiniti Prototype 9 into the mix with all of the classic cars. Meanwhile, McLaren has to make its own splash, and it’s doing so this year with a special one-off version of the 720S painted in one of the loudest and intriguing shades of purple that you’ll probably ever see on something with wheels.

The car in question was built by McLaren Special Operations to the exact specifications requested by Michael Fux. If the name doesn’t sound familiar, he’s owned a number of collector cars that include a some special McLaren one-offs like a 12C in McLaren Orange, a 12C Spider in yet another shade of purple, and even a McLaren P1 with an exclusive color of green that has only be used on that specific vehicle. Unlike some McLaren one-offs, this beauty features a bespoke paint color called “Fux Fuchsia” that was developed specifically for Fux by Rolls-Royce and then redeveloped for its application on the 720S by McLaren. So, with that in mind, don’t expect to get your hands on it, as our man Fux owns the exclusive rights to this specific hue – if that’s not exclusive, I don’t know what is. Keep reading to learn about what Mr. Fux requested from McLaren SVO.

One-Offs Are All About the Details

So, as you can see, the exterior has this amazing hue of purple that is loud, attractive, and – honestly – desirable. But that’s not where the special treatment stopped with this specific 720S. There have, of course, been some carbon fiber exterior trim pieces added, because you can’t do a one-off McLaren without those, but Mr. Fux is a true collector, and it’s safe to assume that he understands that sometimes it’s about how you feel inside, not how the car looks on the outside.

That becomes even more evident when you look inside where you’ll small bits of Black Alcantara on the floor, dash, and headliner, but also a massive dose of bespoke MSO white leather with matching white stitching. Then you’ve got the white, Alcantara floor mats with white stitching that offset the dark Alcantara above and below. More importantly, however, is the body-color trim inside the car, which really ties the interior and exterior together in ways that only McLaren could pull off.

You’ll find that the trim inserts on the door panels are finished in Fux Fuchsia, as is the rear view mirror and an elegant little stripe on the lower steering wheel spoke. There’s carbon fiber housing the infotainment display and various controls, and can also be spotted on the steering wheel and above the instrument cluster overhang. Now, you could argue that this isn’t much and that a few bits of purple inside don’t do much to make a car Bespoke, but the placement here is key. On top of that, the window trim outside, as well as the exhaust, is finished in a Stealth Grey to round out the entire package and stands out just right against that unique shade of purple.

Now, this is pretty much a visual-only package, so there are no engine upgrades to speak of – at least not that we know of, anyway. As such, it’s safe to assume that this 720S comes with the same motivation as the standard production model. That means there’s a 4.0-liter V-8 crammed under the rear deck and mated to a seven-speed SSG transmission. Power output should sit a 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque, which will get this one-off up to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 212 mph.
