In the same time with the rest of the Mercedes-Benz GLE lineup, the GLE 53 AMG is also preparing for an update. If back in December the standard GLE was caught playing in the Scandinavian snow, now Mercedes took the GLE 53 AMG prototypes out for a testing session.

Just like with the other prototypes of the standard GLE and the GLE 63, the ones for the GLE 53 AMG have both the front and the rear covered. In fact, for these ones, the rear is double camouflaged because of the extra snow and ice.

However, despite the heavy camouflage, it is obvious that the revised GLE 53 AMG will get an updated front fascia with a revised grille and new headlamps. Most likely the taillights will get a new design too, and so will the front and rear bumper, but also the mesh behind the corner vents.

For the interior we expect to see an an updated version of the MBUX infotainment system and a new steering wheel.

We do not expect any major update under the hood, so the revised GLE 53 AMG should still be offered with a 3.0-liter, straight-six engine that makes 429 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque combined with a special starter-generator that adds another 22 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque .

Expect the revised GLE lineup to be revealed by the end of 2022.
