Well, that's one less mystery to deal with because we know exactly what to expect from the Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster. This all-new roadster is essentially the flamboyant GT R coupe's topless avatar. It is all set to make its debut on March 5 at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, but only 750 lucky, wealthy people will be able to get their hands on this limited-production car. Are you ready to rip the roads while getting sun-kissed?

You Don't Have To Compromise On The Performance Aspect Without The Roof

Up to this point, people who desired the open-air feeling were forced to settle for the slower AMG GT C Roadster. However, nearly three years after its launch, the German automaker has finally decided to pop the GT R Coupe's top. The Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster is powered by the familiar 4.0-liter, biturbo, V-8 engine that packs 577 horses and 516 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It tops out at 197 miles per hour, 1 mph slower than its coupe counterpart.

The GT R Roadster will also borrow the coupe's rear-wheel steering system, wherein the rear wheels point in the opposite direction of the front ones to make it more agile during cornering. This system is active at speeds of up to 62 mph. The automaker has also carried over the giant wing atop the boot. Mercedes-AMG has extensively worked to keep the car grounded without a hard top. There is an active underbody spoiler that is 40mm closer to the road and creates 88 pounds of downforce at 155 mph.

The Roadster Sure Looks Sexy As Hell!

There are a few differences from the hard top car, other than the literal hair-raising experience. The GT R Roadster benefits from exclusive wheel arch liners with special cooling air slits that allow more air to pass through the arches. Mercedes-AMG is also offering it in an exclusive matte-finish graphite gray paint. Talking about technological shenanigans, the Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster is offered with:

-* Active Aerodynamics

-* Adjustable Suspension

-* Active Rear-Wheel Steering

-* Active Engine Mounts

The 2020 AMG GT R Roadster Has No Dearth Of Customisations

The cabin comes standard with AMG Performance seats wrapped in Nappa leather with diamond stitching and black carbon fiber elements. The center console of the Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster will feature numbered badges to make you feel special and remind you that you are one of the 750 people to own this car. The AMG Performance steering wheel comes standard, adding the two configurable display buttons alongside the bottom spoke. The GT R roadster features the company's Airscarf system that blows warm air on your neck to counter off the chill in cooler temperatures. Neat, huh? AMG Performance seats with ventilation will also be available as option.

To spice up things and make your GT R Roadster one-of-a-kind, you will have the option to choose from two carbon fiber packages as well. As for the interior treatment Saddle Brown/Black, Macchiato Beige/Black, and Silver Pearl/Black will be available to choose from. Mercedes-AMG has not announced the price yet, but we speculate that it will start out around $180,000 - a $20,000 premium over the coupe. What are your thoughts on the Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster?
