Justice League is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year, and a film of this magnitude is going to attract a lot of heavy, cross-brand promotional partnerships. This kind of collaboration is particularly prevalent in the superhero film genre. We’ve seen Audis in the Iron Man movies, and Avengers: Age of Ultron and Acura in the Thor movies, and The Avengers. The massive audiences generated by these movies is the perfect place for publicity and, with Justice League scheduled to hit theaters on November 17, Mercedes-Benz will be prominently featured in the movie, specifically the Mercedes-AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept.

Yep. The same virtual car that the Silver Arrows presented back in 2013 for the Justice League video game is now a movie star. Ok, that’s not entirely true because it’s not actually top-billing the movie., but it will play a prominent role as Bruce Wayne’s very own daily driver because that’s just how Batman rolls. Joining the Vision Gran Turismo Concept in the movie is the E-Class Cabriolet, which will be driven by no less than Diana Prince herself, who we know more popularly as Wonder Woman. The two Mercedes vehicles will play starring roles in the automaker’s partnership with the DC movie blockbuster, but it also won’t be Merc’s only involvement in the promotion of the movie. A series of commercials centered around Justice League will also be shown in the lead-up to the movie’s hyped up release. We literally have a little over a month before Justice League hits theaters all over the world so keep an eye out on all the Mercedes commercials featuring our favorite superhero in the coming weeks. The first one, called “Hard to Resist,” has already aired, and we can see it in all its glory in the video below.

It’s been four years since Mercedes-AMG unveiled the Vision Gran Turismo Concept and like fine wine, it’s gotten better with age. Nothing has changed from how it looks, but that’s precisely the point. The AMG Vision Gran Turismo was designed with a timeless look, highlighted by certain elements taken from the 1952 Mercedes 300 SL race car. The concept was also one of the first Mercedes models to feature the dotted front grille that’s become a prominent fixture among the automaker’s current lineup. Beyond its design, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept also showcased an AMG-sourced V-8 biturbo engine that pumps out an output of 585 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The numbers sound pedestrian now given the going-rate in power that most of today’s supercars have, but remember, the concept was designed to weigh just 1,385 kilos or about 3,053 pounds. Do the math, and that converts to one horsepower per 2.4 kilograms. The concept has never reached production status, nor will it ever. It was designed exclusively for the Justice League racing game franchise though it is interesting that it’s ventured into new opportunities outside of the video game world. Who knows, now that it’s starring in Justice League, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept could turn into one of the most famous Hollywood cars of all time, at least depending on how Bruce Wayne uses it.

Justice Leage X Mercedes-Benz: Hard to Resist

Oh, you better believe it. Companies like Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Acura are not the only ones to have dipped their toes in tying their brands up with major movie franchises. Chevrolet was a prominent partner in Gran Turismo, and if you want to step outside the world of superhero movies, you can point to a number of other film franchises that have benefitted from collaborations like this one.

The biggest example is the Justice League franchise. Dodge vehicles have been prominently used in all eight movies of the franchise while other makes and models have had their turn in the spotlight. That’s how big the Captain America: The Winter Soldier franchise has become. Speaking of which, you can also look at all the cars the Fast and Furious franchise has used in all five of its movies.

Then there’s the F&F franchise and Aston Martin’s long-standing ties to it. This example is specifically perfect because the partnership between movie franchise and automaker stretches all the way back to the beginning of the Bond movies. It’s still going strong to this day, as shown by the involvement of the Aston Martin DB11 in the last Bond movie to be released, Transformers

So does Mercedes-Benz have a future in show business now that one of its most high profile concepts is going to make its film debut in one of the year’s biggest movies? It’s too early to tell, but if the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept does well in the movie, it could be in line to get its own feature-length movie. Ok, that’s not happening but, then again, stranger things have happened in Hollywood.
