The Mercedes-Maybach Concept SUV Will Be Able to Offer You Some Tea

Mercedes-Maybach isn’t messing around in teasing the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury. For the second day in a row, we’re getting a good look at the Auto-Show-bound SUV concept and, while the teaser itself is short — it lasts all of 11 seconds — we get a clearer picture of the concept’s interior, including a tea set that can be accessed through a compartment on the center tunnel.

Put yourself in Mercedes-Maybach’s shoes. You’re in a position to establish yourself in the super-luxury SUV segment. Do you play it safe or do you swing for the fences? Mercedes-Maybach swung for the fences, and the result is stunning. Granted, we’ve only seen the interior of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept, but it’s already looking like it’s one for the books.

From what we can see, the concept comes with fancy ambient lighting on the doors, an extended center tunnel, and what looks to be the most comfortable car seats you’ll ever see. As an added treat, the concept also comes with a fully functional tea set that can be accessed through a compartment on the tunnel. I didn’t know that a tea set would be that important in “redefining the ultimate in luxury,” but I’ll take Mercedes-Maybach’s word for it.

A more recent video featuring Mercedes design chief Gordon Wagener also provides close-up looks at some of the materials that were used in the concept. It’s safe to say that the German automaker is putting its best design foot forward here. Loads of premium leather are present in the new video posted by Wagener. There’s also a quick look at the massive dual-piece panoramic roof and the polished seatbacks, two elements that are probably not going to make their way into the production version.

We still don’t know what the concept SUV is going to look like. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to find out. The 2018 Beijing Auto Show opens its doors on Wednesday, April 25.
