The Lamborghini Gallardo is by no means a tame supercar, but it seems there's a certain set of people who find it a bit too boring or unexciting. To them, a vehicle like the Monterossa Speedster is what will quench their thirst for exhilaration, and it's an unofficial speedster version of the Gallardo.

By unofficial, we meant that this isn't exactly Lamborghini's creation. Rather, this is a creation of DRVN Concepts, a small company that's based in California. For now, only one exists, but 15 will be built for interested customers.

The Monterossa Speedster began life as a Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale, which was then torn down back to its bare shell. To compensate for the lack of a roof, new bracing was installed in the doors to maintain its rigidity.

As a result, it looks nothing like a Lamborghini already, and it even looks like a KTM X-Bow. Upfront, there's a forged carbon fiber front splitter, thin LED headlights and more forged carbon at the top of the hood. The rear looks even more purposeful since the engine and transmission have been left exposed.

Monterossa says DRVN Concepts says that motorcycles were the inspiration in creating the Monterossa Speedster. They also confirmed that the speedster weighs just 2,808 lbs, which is more than 100 lbs lighter than the donor Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale.

The powertrain of this speedster seems to be unchanged from the high-performance version of the Gallardo, which should mean that it still produces 562 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque, driving all four wheels via a six-speed single-clutch automated manual.

If you want one of these crazy speedsters, then you better hurry up as DRVN Concepts will only produce 15 of these.
