• The most fuel-efficient car in the world runs on a fuel tank the size of a can of soda

Just because a car doesn’t look anywhere near what a normal car would look like, it doesn’t mean it can’t serve its purpose of taking somebody from point A to point B.

This car was created and designed by students from Coventry University and will take part in the Eco-Marathon competition - a competition to find the world’s most fuel-efficient car - in Germany that’s set to take place in the coming days. Using only a combination of plastic sheeting, nylon ties, and gaffer tape, the eco-car may not be as fashionable as a Ferrari, but it’s fuel efficiency is something even the Prancing Horse can’t match. That’s because the car - or what it’s supposed to look like - will come equipped with a tiny plastic container the size of a soda can that will be used as its fuel tank. Yep, it’s fuel tank is the size of a soda can. And the best part is, it can travel at speeds of 12 mph and can go from London to Brighton without a glitch.

It doesn’t end there either. The car is as light as a feather and as a matter of fact, it’s driver Maivelly Sulli, is still heavier than the car, making it even more ideal as far as maneuverability and fuel efficiency are concerned.

Like we said, the car is about as aesthetically cringing as any car you’ve ever seen, but if you’re the type to prefer substance over style, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a ride as fuel-efficient as this one.

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read More

Well, it’s creative and fun but I bet no one would want to own this.

This is the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen here.

This is more than efficiency and originality. I salute its students for inventing this kind of invention. They could be the future developer of more economical, conventional and innovative cars.

I agree, a bicycle is even more ecological and economical.

Meh. I highly doubt this will be a great hit. It’s really basic, why not just use a bicycle then?

You must be kidding! It doesn’t even look like a car for me hahahaha and I don’t think that it was safe to drive and how would the driver drive this one? It seems that it didn’t compose any steering wheel. smiley

HAHA! I wonder if people will try this. Okay, it can bring us from one point to another but how long will it take? A day? HAHA! Absurd. UK can create an economy car but not this kind because it is a shame for the car industry.

In case that soda would not work alone then use a menthol together with it!lol. If I could recall there’s a news here at TopSpeed regarding what I’m saying and its great though it runs like the speed of a rocket!

Once, I have read about a car that uses a whiskey to run his car and I think its kind of expensive. However using a soda for fuel is not so reliable, I haven’t read any study about the reliability of soda as a fuel.

Well,I think Atom and KTM has no match on this carsmiley When a time comes that the price is freaking high i would consider to drive this car!

haha. the car look so odd!just imagine your self driving this car...hahaha. I can’t imagine! But knowing it was run by a can of Soda? extremely amazingsmiley

Can of soda? Are you kidding? But perhaps it’ll be beneficial to our mother earth. Let’s all save this planet and use fuel efficient cars today!

This is really cute and very unusual. But even if it’s small, this fuel-efficient car shouldn’t require one to give up comfort, safety and enjoyment.

I can see potential of this car. I think they should upgrade this technology but with the same concept so that everyone could experience the efficiency of this car.

thats what i’d think....

Oh look he even got a rool cage installed on his invention but IMO I hope he also added some roll cage on front.

that is better than a regular car. this one is light weight and better for the planet.

it is fast for a soda can sized tank. in the future it will improve to go faster with the same sized tank, thats only my prediction.

probably all the cars will be like that until the go electric and run on water and such.
