Lamborghini is preparing to say goodbye to its ICE-only powered models. In 2023, the Italian company will launch the successor for the Aventador - a model powered by the traditional V-12 engine but helped by a hybrid system. In the meantime, 2022 will bring a lot of cool, non-hybrid supercars for Lamborghini. We've already seen the Huracan Tecnica, but there are three more models to come. One of these three is a production version of the Sterrato Concept that was revealed back in 2019. A prototype of this car was caught many times before, but after that, it disappeared, and it was believed that the project was canceled. Well, now it is back! A Huracan Sterrato prototype was caught testing outside Lamborghini’s factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese.

What is the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato?

Sterrato is the Italian word for "dirt road" - which means that the Huracan Sterrato will be a supercar built for off-roading. Spy shots revealed that the Sterrato will sit much higher than the standard Hurracan. Of course, do not expect to offer the same ground clearance offered by the Urus, for example, but it will be higher than the standard Huracan. Both the approach and the departure angles should also be improved.

Just like with the other prototypes caught testing, this one sports skid plates, roof rails and a LED light bar on the bonnet for improved vision at night. It even has a dual-inlet air scoop on the roof. What is missing is the chunky cladding and the upsized wheels seen on the concept, but hopefully they will be offered on the final product. Just like with all the Huracan models launched after 2019, the exhaust system ends with a pair of end pipes mounted between the rear license plate.

Rumors suggest that the Sterrato will be powered by the same 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V-10 engine as the Huracan EVO. It delivers 631 horsepower, and in Sterrato's case, it will send power to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission.

Rumors suggest that the Huracan Sterrato will be unveiled before the end of August 2022. It will be offered in limited series production. Prices will be announced at a later date, but don’t expect it to come cheap. In the upcoming months Porsche will also launch the 911 Safari, and we can't wait to see which of the two companies did a better job with their off-road cars.
