The current-generation Mercedes GLC-Class was unveiled back in 2015 as a replacement for the GLK-Class and as an SUV equivalent to the C-Class. Now, almost seven years later, the GLC is getting ready to enter its second generation.

A prototype was first caught testing in August 2021, then again playing in the snow back in January 2022, and now it looks like the testing continues. But, next to the usual very camouflaged prototypes, our spy photographers were also able to catch a GLC prototype being loaded into a truck without any camouflage, giving us a close look to the side of the SUV.

Updated 03/08/2022: Our spy photographers caught a new Mercedes-Benz GLC prototype out for some more testing in the snow. This new prototype drops the usual camouflage in favor of a new, more "marketing" one with all the Mercedes stars on the car. It also offers us a very good view of the shape of of the grille

The new GLC SUV will be built on the same platform as the new C-Class and will grow in size, most likely in order to make room for three-row seat options. While the heavy camouflage makes it difficult to guess what changes the GLC will offer, the uncovered side picture confirms that the mirrors will be located on the doors instead of the A-pillar.

The interior will be heavily inspired by the latest general C-Class, which in turn, is inspired by the latest S-Class. The previous spy shots revealed a new instrument panel display and an angled in-dash infotainment screen. We also expect new trims, new upholstery, and, in general, a more modernized look.

As for the engine lineup, we expect the GLC to be offered with the same engine lineup as the C-Class, including something performance-oriented with an AMG badge. Also, one of the prototypes caught testing today is clearly a hybrid model - its number plate finishes with the letter “E” – a designation used for hybrid and fully electric prototype vehicles. So, expect to see a plug-in hybrid version, too, when the new GLC will be launched.

Mercedes will most likely launch the new generation GLC sometime towards the end of 2022, with sales set to begin in 2023.
