Looks like the Croatian boutique auto builder has reason to break out the bubbly

Rimac introduced the C_Two less than a month ago, bringing yet another heavy-hitter into the ongoing battle for EV supercar supremacy. Now, it’s reported that nearly all 150 examples have been scooped up, with an average of $600,000 in options tacked onto the $2.09 million base price.

It’s a testament to Rimac’s ability to generate interest, bringing spacey good looks and out-there performance specs to a worldwide audience eager to see what’s next in the world of top-shelf performance cars.

As Rimac’s second-ever vehicle production vehicle, it would appear as though the C_Two managed to buck the dreaded sophomore slump with impressive sales across the board. Compared to the preceding Rimac Concept_One, which saw just eight units built in the entire production run, Rimac’s ability to sell all 150 examples of the C_Two in just three week’s time is certainly worthy of boasting.

The sales success was revealed by Rimac’s head of sales Kreso Coric, who spoke with Autocar recently at the 2018 New York International Auto Show. No word on pricing for individual options, unfortunately.

Regardless, Rimac must be over the moon with these results thus far, especially when you consider production won’t kick off until 2020.

It’s a testament to Rimac’s ability to generate interest, bringing spacey good looks and out-there performance specs to a worldwide audience eager to see what’s next in the world of top-shelf performance cars.

The success and interest created is also no doubt thanks in part to the press generated when former Top Gear host and current The Grand Tour host Richard Hammond rolled a Rimac Concept_One supercar down a hill in spectacular and fiery fashion.

But let us not discount the technical achievement of the C_Two. Specs for this EV mega-machine include a sprint to 60 mph in 1.85 seconds and 100 mph in 4.3 seconds. Top speed is rated at 258 mph. It’ll also go 404 miles between charging sessions.

Making all that possible is a quartet of electric motors and AWD grip, with juice provided by a 120-kWh battery pack. Output is rated at an astonishing 1,888 horsepower and 1,696 pound-feet of torque.

Once it hits the road, the C_Two will face off against competitors like the Nio EP9 and second-generation Tesla Roadster.
