Subaru unveiled the BRZ back in 2012 as a 2+2 sports cars jointly developed with Toyota. The BRZ is mechanically identical to the Toyota 86, with the only difference in between the two cars being the exterior design language. In 2020, Subaru unveiled the second generation BRZ, with sales to begin in 2021, and now, for the 2022 model year, to mark the model's 10th anniversary Subaru unveiled the special edition BRZ S 10th Anniversary Limited. The model will only be offered in Japan and will be limited to 200 units.

What makes the Subaru BRZ S 10th Anniversary Limited special?

Changes to the exterior and the interior aren't wide-reaching, but there are a few elements that will differentiate it from the rest of the lineup. The car is finished in a very cool-looking World Rally Blue paint combined with black BRZ emblem on the tailgate, black exterior mirrors, and black wheels. Unfortunately, the model didn't receive special wheels, but it will be offered with 18-inch aluminum wheels as standard.

For the interior, Subaru opted for ultrasuede and black leather upholstery for the seats combined with contrasting blue accents and stitching to match the exterior look. The same black leather has been used for the steering wheel, the gear knob, the handbrake, and the door armrests with the same contrasting blue stitching. An even more contrasting image is obtained by using dark metallic accents on the dashboard, instrument cluster, and steering wheel. And, since we are talking about a special edition, Subaru placed the words "10th Anniversary" into the door card.

What powers the Subaru BRZ S 10th Anniversary Limited?

Subaru made no changes under the hood, which means the BRZ S 10th Anniversary Limited will be powered by the same 2.3-liter boxer-four engine that delivers a total of 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission will be offered as standard, while the 6-automatic transmission comes as an option. In both versions, the power is sent to the rear wheels. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph is made in 5.8 seconds, while top speed remains limited to 140 mph.

How much does the Subaru BRZ S 10th Anniversary Limited cost?

As its name suggests, the BRZ S 10th Anniversary Limited is based on the Japanese S trim level and can only be ordered between July 28 and September 30. Prices will start from ¥3,388,000 (about $24,000 at the current exchange rates) for the manual version and from ¥3,553,000 ($26,000) for the automatic version.
