It’s been a year and a half since rumors about Toyota working on an M3-powered Toyota GRMN Supra, but the rumor mill has been quite busy lately. Just this year alone, we’ve heard that the BMW Z4 is done as of 2025 with the Supra potentially following, and there have been two rumors about the GR Supra with a manual transmission Now, the GRMN Supra is back in the mix, and the latest rumor is building on the previous ones.

530+ Horsepower and AWD in a Supra?!?!?!?!?

According to a new report from Spyder7, the GRMN Supra will, in fact, get BMW’s S58 inline-six from the M3 and M4, it will supposedly be tuned to deliver some 533 horsepower – 30 horsepower more than it makes in the M3 and M4. Power will be sent to the wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. RWD will, of course, be standard, but this report is also claiming that AWD will be available as an option. Seems like a bit of a reach, but this is 2022 after all, so we’ll just say take this one with a grain of salt for now.

The report also says that the GRMN Supra will arrive in 2023. It will have a new hood with a functional hood scoop to help keep the engine bay cool and a new aggressive front fascia. More importantly, it’ll have a new carbon fiber rear spoiler and a full carbon-fiber roof – something that should help shave off a few pounds from the overall curb weight. The outlet didn’t go on to expose anything about the interior or straight-line performance, but it did say that it will start from 10 million Yen in Japan, which converts to around $81,000 as of the time of this writing. Whether or not it will be a Japan-only model or not remains a mystery.

Now, as for the source of this information, Spyder7 doesn’t cite any specific source, choosing only to say these details are “based on the latest information obtained.” This could mean that it’s all smoke and mirrors, but Spyder7 does have at least some success rates when it comes to legitimacy of leaked information like this. The increased output of 533 horsepower from the BMW S58, for example, is probably within the realm of possibilities. It’s only 30 horsepower more than its output in the M3 and M4. In those cars, it makes 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.
