In keeping with its reputation as the biggest auto show in the world, the 2018 Geneva Motor Show will play host to a good amount of concepts and world debuts. There are two cars, though, that have the potential to steal the show. It’s taken a long time, but we’re finally going to see the new BMW Z4 and the returning Toyota Supra in the metal. All the sleepless nights spent waiting for these two sports cars to arrive will now end. It’s happening, folks. It really is. Barring unexpected developments, the Z4 and the Supra are both headed to Geneva.

It’s taken five years to get to this point, but we’re done counting the days, at least if BMW and Toyota live up to their end. If both models make their debuts, the new Z4 Roadster will likely come in production form since the concept version, called the Concept Z4, already made its debut last year at the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance.

On the other hand, the Geneva-bound Toyota Supra will arrive in concept form. Toyota already began alluding to this with a teaser photo it released this month, alluding to a “modern racing concept” that will make its debut in Geneva. Unless the Japanese automaker is talking about a completely different model, which is highly unlikely, this new concept could be a preview of the production version. We’ve seen spy shots of the car doing test runs, but apart from that, there’s no a lot of information about the Supra that can be considered as full-blown gospel. It’s not even a foregone conclusion that the model will carry the Supra name.

A lot of questions still need to be asked before we can understand what Toyota’s plans for the model are. But, we’ll take it a day at a time. We know that there’s a good chance that both the BMW Z4 Roadster and the Toyota Supra are headed to the Geneva Motor Show. That assurance alone is more than enough for all of us who have waited five years for this day to come.
