The Chevrolet Camaro has been an integral part of the Transformers series from the very beginning. To date, we have seen four Camaros and one Camaro Concept in the five movies that have been made. The yellow Chevy Camaros have served as the vehicle mode of the Autobot Bumblebee. Now, all four Bumblebee Camaros that have starred in the movie franchise will be auctioned in Scottsdale, Arizona later this month.

The Camaro Owes a Thank You to Michael Bay

The first Transformers movie gave the resurrected Camaro the ‘career-push’ it needed to take off. In the 2000’s, Chevrolet was preparing to revive the Camaro nameplate with a fifth generation of the muscle car. The Camaro became so popular that Chevrolet introduced a special Bumblebee edition of the car.

Chevy Camaro is to Transformers as Audi R8 is to Ironman

For the 2009 "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", the yellow ride received a slight update. The second Bumblebee, based on a 2010 Camaro, starred in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon." The next franchise of the movie, "Transformers: Age of Extinction", saw the 2013 Camaro as Bumblebee that came with slimmer headlights and a reworked front and rear fascia. Again, these updates previewed a refreshed fifth-generation Camaro to come, especially in the rear. This 2016 model Bumblebee came with lots of added aerodynamic pieces to the exterior. So, can we say that the Camaro refreshes and design inspirations were taken from the Transformers series?

There Is Always A Catch

All the proceeds from the cars will be going to Operation Homefront. The non-profit supports military families in numerous ways with financial assistance and mortgage-free housing. Well, if you like collectibles, this set-of-four may be one of the best things you can buy. However, if you plan to recreate a bumblebee scene, or think about something as little as taking it for a spin in the neighborhood, stop right there. These cars are sold with scrap titles and they are not street-legal, unfortunately. But they are still the original Bumblebees, so expect them to fetch a good value at the auction.
