With the Avista concept from 2016, we got to know what the then-future of Buick cars would look like. And current Buicks do loosely resemble various design aspects of the concept. Fast-forward to 2022, and we have yet another concept from the GM-owned luxury brand. It is called the Wildcat, and this time it is an EV. This concept will shape the brand's future models, which will likely be SUVs. Buick also emphasizes the new tri-shield logo, which is now more prominent than ever.

Exterior: Nothing to compare it to, especially with this in-your-face get-up

The Wildcat EV Concept from Buick is something we never expected, but here we are. If this is the “real design future for the brand,” then the upcoming Buick cars will be unique. The Wildcat Concept features a bold exterior stance because it is a 2+2 coupe. The headlights are sharp, sleek, and are micro-LEDs. Contributing to this powerful stance is a massive grille with horizontal stripes, and two side vents flank it for better aerodynamics. The proud new tri-shield logo sits on the front of the hood.

The rides on a set of 18-inch, turbine-inspired wheels. The sides also display the aggressive skirts, huge wheel arches, how close the Wildcat sits close to the ground, and the sloping roofline. Moving to the rear will expose the massive check mark-styled lightbars as taillights, which have streamlined the roof’s sail panels. The director of Global Buick Design, Bob Boniface, made it clear that “The more you look at the Wildcat EV concept, the more the details reveal themselves”.

Interior: What can be fancier than the cabin?

The cabin has a set of unique color contrasts and is filled with displays. A vast dashboard display acts as a MID and an infotainment display. Apart from these, two rearview displays are fitted on the door panels and a small display on the center console for adjusting car-related settings. The steering wheel has a flat bottom, and the angular accents are something that only a concept can possess. The color Legato Green is what flows through the cabin, along with a lot of aluminum trims. The Wildcat EV Concept also features aromatherapy, massaging functions, and even biometrics.

Final Thoughts

It is cool to know that while concepts will remain for a lifetime, technology is evolving, and soon, the Wildcat EV Concept will lend some of its design and technology to future production models. And to be more precise, the brand will only keep SUVs running the shows. Apparently, these EVs will fall under Electra, a new sub-brand.
