The much-rumored Wrangler-based pickup truck from Jeep is just around the corner. The utility vehicle that will likely mark the return of the Scrambler name after more 30 years will make its global debut at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The information comes straight from the event. In a press release, the Los Angeles Auto Show says it will host more than 60 debut vehicles, of which nearly half will be global premieres, including "an all new-vehicle from Hyundai and a pickup truck from Jeep." It doesn't get more official than this!

Rumored for many years now, the Scrambler (not an official name yet, of course) was spotted testing on public roads numerous times. Likely to be built at the Toledo, Ohio plant, it will compete against the Chevrolet Colorado, Ford Ranger, and Toyota Tacoma.

The Scrambler will be the first Jeep truck since 1992 when the firm discontinued the Cherokee-based Comanche. The last Wrangler based truck, the CJ8 Scrambler, was offered from 1981 through 1985.

Stay tuned for more information on this story. Details should surface over the next few weeks as the 2018 LA Auto Show moves closer to its debut. Leaked photos and information aren't out of the question either. If the past is any indication, we might just see the Scrambler before its official scheduled debut.
