After the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE was launched at the 2021 IAA Mobility Show, we heard rumors about more EQ models being added to the lineup. This turned out to be true as our spy photographers managed to catch the EQE SUV testing in the wild. The EQE SUV will slot itself between the EQB crossover and the EQS SUV.

Fast forward to the present, we have now gotten a glimpse of the AMG version of the aforementioned SUV. The EQE SUV 53 4MATIC+ was recently spotted testing in the north of Scandinavia.

When compared to the standard EQE SUV, the AMG version has a much sportier appearance and sits closer to the ground. There aren't many visual differences yet, but we did notice a special set of AMG rims combined with carbon-ceramic brakes and additional "flics" on the front bumper, which are supposed to give the SUV more downforce on the front axle.

As for the powertrain, the standard EQE SUV is expected to be launched with the same setup as the sedan: a rear-mounted single motor setup that delivers a total of 288 horses and 391 pound-feet of torque. As for the AMG version, rumors suggest it will feature a dual-motor setup with the output raised to a total of 658 horsepower. This will position the EQE SUV 53 4MATIC+ exactly between the Tesla Model Y and the Tesla Model X.

Expect to see the new EQE SUV 53 4MATIC+ sometime in early 2023.
