First impressions point to the 2020 Mazda 3 being a well-rounded vehicle

Mazda has launched an all-new yet evolutionary looking 2020 Mazda 3 in hopes that it will help it in its quest to improve brand image while, at the same time, move its products further upmarket. The car was mostly well received at launch, although not everybody was on board with the shape of the hatchback’s hind quarters. Now, journalists are finally getting their hands on the 2020 Mazda 3 and have tried it out on the road at the Mazda3’s official international launch venue held the U.S. Despite the controversial look of the hatchback’s rear, the Mazda 3 has been praised for its upmarket feel and overall build quality.

2020 Mazda 3 Video Review

Out on the road, there seems to be little to complain about: the car is quieter and more refined than before. Yet, according to those who have driven it, it doesn’t lose the fun, sporty edge that many buyers were very keen on.

With that said, the experience of being in one and driving it is certainly different to what the previous model offered, and the 2020 Mazda 3 offers improvement in nearly every area.

Apparently, the car doesn’t lose much in its transition from a fully independent multilink rear end suspension configuration to a simpler (cheaper and lighter) torsion beam setup. This is a good thing and puts it in line with all its mainstream rivals. However, offerings from Kia, Hyundai, and Toyota do still have a fully-independent rear suspension setup. Mazda says this new 3 is 78 percent stiffer than before, and this is said to show improvements in terms of handling and ride comfort.

Interior quality and design are also improved over the current/outgoing Mazda3. Following in the footsteps of models like the Mazda 6 and CX-5, the 2020 Mazda 3 feels almost like a premium car inside. Materials are nice, while the design is clean, flowing, and uncluttered. The newfound refinement completes the new, more relaxed, serene, experience of being aboard one of Mazda’s latest and greatest.

It’s a bit too early to tell whether or not it’s a success story, but if people can get over the new hatchback’s slightly strange looking rear end (which is said to look much better in person), then there is no reason for the 2020 Mazda 3 not to be a big sales hit.

To put it simply, the 2020 Mazda 3 essentially retains most of what the current/outgoing Mazda3 is appreciated for.

Everything is tweaked just right for the new model year, so the car is better overall. Considering the 2020 Mazda 3 will be a little more expensive than its predecessor, this is an important trait for it to have.
