This 1960 Chevrolet Corvette Has Been Restored In a Very Rare Color

A very special, 1960 Chevrolet C1 Corvette was recently sold for pretty penny

LISTEN 02:21

Classic Corvettes are, undeniably, a desirable piece of American automotive history. The C1 Corvette, in particular, is where it all started and while early examples left a lot to be desired, especially in the performance department, later C1 examples, like this fully restored, 1960 example are truly remarkable. Moreover, this one is finished in the rare Cascade Green and recently changed hands, for a pretty penny.

Regardless of the powertrain and exterior color, any C1 Corvette can be described as “an artwork in fiberglass”. According to the listing, the 1960 Chevrolet Corvette has been sold for $147,500, which is about what a pristine, late-model C1 goes for these days.

Just 140 C1 Corvettes were finished in Cascade Green, which goes well with white coves. According to a Benson, North Carolina dealer, who advertised the car on ClassicCars.com, the car has been restored to “all-original specs”.

The body is straight and has been professionally re-painted and sanded to “a mirror-like finish”. All exterior and interior trim has been refurbished and looks to be in factory condition. The same goes for the immaculate, black, leather interior.

The 1960 C1 Corvette is powered by a 283 cubic-inch (4.6-liter) V-8 with a solid-lift am and two four-barrel carburetors.

In this setup, the V-8 is good for 270 horsepower (201 kilowatts) and 285 pound-feet (386 Nm).

Moreover, the 283 is mated to the more desirable four-speed manual, which makes this C1 even more special.

Thanks to the frame-off restoration and the rebuilt 283 cubic-inch V-8, the C1 Corvette “drives as well as it looks”. Although we haven’t driven it ourselves, the fact, the new owner paid well above the average price, is a confirmation of the car’s pristine condition. And while we don’t expect to see this one for sale, anytime soon, you can enjoy the beautiful images, below.

Born in 1992, I come from a family of motoring enthusiasts. My passion for cars was awoken at the age of six, when I saw a Lamborghini Diablo SV in a magazine. After high school I earned a master’s degree in marketing and a Master of Arts in Media and Communications. Over the years, I’ve practiced and become skilled in precision driving and to date have test driven more than 250 cars across the globe. Over the years, I’ve picked up basic mechanical knowledge and have even taken part in the restoration of a 1964 Jaguar E-Type and an Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint. Lately, I’ve taken a fancy to automotive photography, and while modern cars are my primary passion, I also have a love for Asian Martial Arts, swimming, war history, craft beer, historical weapons, and car restoration. In time, I plan my own classic car restoration and hope to earn my racing certificate, after which I expect to establish my own racing team.  Read full bio
