Being the second generation of the 3 Series, the E30 is known for its stylish looks and true entry-level luxury. It replaced the E21 3 Series with a couple of new changes for BMW. It was previously offered in two-door coupe and convertible body styles. But after the new generation came to light, BMW started producing a four-door sedan and estate-style variants of the 3 Series. By the time the E30 generation had passed, BMW sold more than 19,000 units of the, according to Road & Track. Now someone is auctioning a 1988 BMW 325i Convertible on Bring A Trailer, and the bidding is going on for $5,500 as of the time of this writing.

This Could Be the Ultimately Low-Mileage BMW 325i Convertible

This example of the 325i Convertible has a California number plate, and is finished in Zinnoberrot, a shade of red. A black-colored soft top is fitted by default, and the seller confirmed that the gaskets and straps associated with the soft-top were restored in March 2022. Speaking of replacements, the headlights were changed in 2021, and the rear corner of the 325i was repainted the same year. As for the equipment, there are foglights in the front, a lip spoiler, twin exhaust tips on the left, and a power antenna. This example rides on newly fitted 16-inch Sparco Terra wheels from 2021, and they come wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact 205/45 tires. In addition, four disc brakes are fitted for enhanced braking performance. In 2021, the brake pad sensors were replaced. The tie rod ends and the lower control arms were also replaced in 2020.

On the inside, the cabin is nice and plush. All four seats are covered in tan-leather upholstery. The door panels and carpets are painted in a shade that matches the seat color. Moreover, the interior features AC, heated front seats, power windows, and an onboard computer. The seller confirmed that the AC was converted to R134a refrigerant in 2021. The dashboard sports a fully analog instrument console with a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The readings on the odometer suggest that the 325i Convertible has covered 98,000 miles, from which the seller added approximately 4,000 miles.

The heart of the 1988 BMW 325i Convertible is a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated straight-six engine. This engine was rated at 168 horsepower and 164 pound-feet of torque from the factory back in the day. The engine is mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox and drives the rear wheels only. However, many parts were replaced in 2021, which involved a fan clutch, radiator, and crankshaft oil seals. In addition, the timing belt was replaced earlier in 2020, and the battery tray was repainted to prevent further corrosion under previous ownership. The seller states that the transmission has a leak, so that would be the first repair to be done if you buy it.
