Hyundai announced the Ioniq 5 back in February 2021, and in early 2022, we got the first proof that the company will also launch an N version for the electric hatch. In fact, this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, as Hyundai plans to have 23 new electric models by 2025.

Today our spy photographers caught the next Ioniq N out for a new testing session, this time wearing a different camouflage that reveals more details.

The new prototype wears the same N colors, but in a different pattern, plus, of course, the N slogan "Never just drive." Thanks to the new camouflage we can spot the wider rear wheel arches. The headlights and the taillights feature the Parametric Pixel LED design, and the now-familiar flush-mounted door handles.

Also, for the next Ioniq 5 N, the chassis is firmer and the car has a lower ground clearance. You can also spot that the front brakes are much sportier than on the smaller engine versions.

As for the interior, it should be pretty similar to the standard version, except that the driver and the front passenger should have sportier seats.

While the exterior and the interior shouldn't be such a mystery, the powertrain is a different story. In its highest trim level, the base Ioniq 5 delivers a total of 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque from a dual-electric motor setup that will have a range of 256 miles. So, the N version should be a little bit more powerful than that. Rumors suggest it will borrow the powertrain from the Kia EV6 GT. This model is offered with a 77.4 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system - a combination that delivers a total of 577 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque.

Expect the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N to be revealed in 2023.
