This Detail Video of the Manthey Racing Kit for the Porsche 911 GT3 Will Give You the Itch
The 911 GT3 RS is a complete sports car, but this kit somehow builds on that quite nicelyby Tudor Rus, on LISTEN 02:14
Mansory and company, do take notes. This is how you improve on a presumably well-rounded recipe that offers staggering performance right off the factory gate WITHOUT messing up with its design. Let’s check out this 911 GT3 by Manthey Racing.
This is a racing kit first and foremost
Manthey Racing is the most successful Porsche racing team out there.
Porsche itself holds a 51-percent share in Manthey, so the two companies are basically family. And with eight titles in the Porsche Supercup, five overall victories at the 24h of Nurburgring and two in Le Mans, who’s better at tweaking the GT3 RS than the skilled guys over at Manthey Racing?
Other than the visual tricks highlighted in the video, there’s no word of powertrain upgrades, but come on, are they really needed? We believe not. The 911 GT3 RS already cranks out 520 horsepower from a banshee-screaming 4.0-liter flat-six that revs all the way up to 9000 rpm.
Best thing, though? You can pick your weapon of choice when it comes to transmission. Purists will love the availability of the six-speed manual (optional), while automatic fans are in for some serious treat from the seven-speed dual-clutch PDK.
Heck, Car and Driver tests showed the GT3 RS can blast from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, scorching through the quarter mile in eleven seconds flat at 129 mph.
|Horsepower||520 HP @ 8,250 RPM|
|Torque||346 LB-FT @ 6,000 RPM|
|Transmission||7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung|
|Top track speed||193 mph|
|0 - 60 mph||3.0 s|
|1/4 mile||11 s|
|1/4 mile speed||129 mph|
Throw in the fact that Porsche also focused on the GT3 RS’ streetable side, and one might ask: is there really a better sports car out there, for road AND track? For road, we think not. For track days, Manthey Racing’s recipe might even touch on perfection.
