These 2 remakes of JDM legends relive the old days at Chuckwalla Raceway
The Acura NSX and Toyota GR Supra battle it out around the high-speed circuit to determine which is the better track weapon, with only mild modifications done to them
The Toyota GR Supra has proven that it can punch above its weight
Its 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 is conservatively rated at 382 hp and 368 lb/ft. All that is sent to the rear through a ZF, 8-speed automatic. At just over 3,300 lbs, it's also the lighter of the 2 cars
The Acura NSX has a more powerful engine and hybrid tech on its side
It has 3 electric motors and a 3.5-liter V-6. Combined, they make 573 hp and 476 lb/ft. It also has an all-wheel drive and a 9-speed DCT. At over 3,800 lbs, it is the heavier car
Subtle mods compliment the GR Supra's already capable platform
Modifications include the obligatory downpipe and exhaust. Lowering springs, upgraded brakes, and lightweight wheels, wrapped in Nitto NT01 enhance on-track performance
The Acura NSX comes with its fair share of mild modifications
Exhaust, downpipe, tune, upgraded springs, and Volk Racing TE37 wheels are the focal points. Like the GR Supra, the NSX relies on Nitto NT01 tires
There was a clear winner from the time attack race
At the end of the day, both cars and their drivers gave it their all, but there was a clear winner, with the gap between the 2 cars being almost 9 seconds
Unfulfilled potential
While the GR Supra was the underdog, it's, actually, the more tunable of the 2 cars. At the time of the race, the NSX's ECU was still locked and the car was, supposedly in limp mode
