For the longest time, I’ve refused to acknowledge the Mach-E to have the Mustang spirit. But, it looks like I’ll have to change that now. The Mach-E just gave us solid proof that it has the Mustang DNA by failing a moose test that its rivals passed without breaking a sweat. The Mach-E swayed across and fishtailed its way into the cones at the first turn. The original Mustang must be smiling with tears in its eyes looking at the Mach-E.

Mustangs Seem To Have Moose-ophobia

The team at ‘Teknikens Värld’ conducted the moose test. The Mach-E attempted the test at 68 kmph (42.3 mph) and the rear end hit the cones. All Mustang crash jokes aside, this moose test doesn’t inspire confidence and shows that the Mach-E may not evade a suddenly appearing obstacle without losing control.

Another test at 70 kmph (43.5 mph) was also done but the result was the same. At 72 kmph (44.7 mph), it wasn’t even able to straighten itself at unsuccessfully dodging the cones.

The presenter notes that the Mach-E’s Electronic Stability Control is to be blamed, but it could be something to do with the chassis as well. The model in question is the Mach-E Long Range with the all-wheel-drive system. It is equipped with stock 19-inch wheels shod in 225/55 section tires.

They tested the Tesla Model Y and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 as well. The Model Y passed the moose test with flying colors even at 75 kmph (46.6 mph).

The Ioniq 5 was tested at 72 kmph (44.7 mph) and it stayed in control and looked the best of the three in this test. It’s not mentioned what models of the Model Y and the Ioniq 5 were used here.
