The GMC Hummer EV is one of the most bonkers EV pickup trucks to come out in recent times. With up to 1,014 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet (1,627 Nm) of torque, it does away with the 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) sprint in around 3.0 seconds, despite weighing in at 9,046 pounds (4,103 kg). That said, a graphic designer that goes by jlord8 has given us his take on a short version of the rugged EV pickup truck, and we really think GM should make one.

The graphic designer posts all of his work on Instagram and he seems to be experimenting, almost exclusively on American vehicles from all eras. His latest work involves the 2021 GMC Hummer EV and is pretty straightforward. The pixel master has done away entirely with the middle section of the electric pick-up truck, resulting in a much shorter vehicle.

We can’t help, but compare the short-wheelbase Hummer EV to the classic Broncos and K5 Blazers. Seeing new models like the 2020 Land Rover Defender, the 2021 Ford Bronco, and the Jeep Wrangler (which never left in the first place) bring back short-wheelbase SUVs, we think it would be wise if GM thinks about a short-wheelbase Hummer EV.

We can definitely picture a base, short-wheelbase version of the Hummer EV being offered with the EV2 and EV2X dual-motor setup and 625 to 830 horsepower. Of course, whether or not GM will even consider making one depends on whether the full-size Hummer EV performs well on the market, which given the competition, may not be so easy. In any case, the shot-wheelbase Hummer EV sort of reminds us of the Warthog from Halo, and it’s plain awesome.
