Sam conducted another drag race, this time involving the Ford Mustang and the Infiniti Q60S, and uploaded the video on his YouTube channel, ‘Sam CarLegion’. This is an interesting mix because it involved a V-6 taking on a four-pot mill that churns out more power. However, the V-6-powered car comes with an all-wheel-drive system, unlike its rival that drives only the rear wheels. To make it even more interesting, they both weigh pretty much the same. Which car do you have your bets on?

This Is How Much Power They Make

Power is channeled to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

A 10-speed automatic gearbox powers the rear wheels here.

The Mustang weighs 3,932 pounds, whereas the Q60S tips the scales at 3,915 pounds. It is 17 pounds lighter despite the V-6 and an all-wheel-drive system. But, thanks to the power disparity, the Mustang boasts of a much better power-to-weight ratio of 0.084 horsepower/pound versus the Q60S’ 0.077 horsepower/pound.

How Do The Cars Fare Against Each Other?

The first race started with both the cars in their respective sport settings and the traction control kept on. Both the cars started neck and neck and stayed that way for a few seconds off the line, but the Q60S then sped away and scored a win.

For the second drag race, Sam switched to the Drag mode in the Mustang, whereas the Infiniti turned off the traction control to see if it would make any difference. As it turns out, the Mustang did worse than before and lost by a pretty big margin for a car that supposedly has a better power-to-weight ratio. All-wheel-drive system to the rescue!

Next up was a rolling race from 31 mph (50 kph). The cars were in Sport mode, Traction Control off, and gearbox in automatic mode. At kickdown, the Mustang left the Infiniti in the dust and scored a comprehensive win. The latter was not even in its American rival’s frame.

They raced again from 31 mph, but this time with the gearbox in manual mode. The Q60S was well ahead of the Mustang at kickdown, which may or may not have played a role in it scoring a win. But, that said, it was evident that the Japanese car did much better this time around. It would’ve been a rather close fight if they were beside each other at kickdown. Well, we’ll never know!
