Mazda already confirmed that the CX-60 will make its official debut on March 8, 2022. With less than a month before its arrival, a prototype with very little camouflage was caught testing on the streets of Germany.

What we know so far about the next CX-60 is that it will be built on Mazda’s new rear-wheel drive (RWD) architecture and will be placed above the Mazda CX-5 in the lineup. It will also be Mazda's first-ever plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) with an output of more than 300 horsepower. This will be possible by combining a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor.

The very little camouflage seen on this prototype confirms what the latest teasers revealed. The CX-60 will be offered with completely redesigned LED headlights and LED daytime running lights, They pierce through the grille, giving a sweet look overall. The hood is long in contrast to the curvaceous shapes of the facelifted CX-5, but the general shape will be typical for a Mazda crossover SUV.

The new Mazda CX-60 will be followed by a three-row version called CX-80 and the North American market will get its own CX-70 and CX-90 versions.
