McLaren is the kind of automaker that builds all of its vehicles with track driving in mind. Whether it's the entry-level 540C or the wild Senna, they can be unleashed on the track like a full-fledged race car.

But McLaren also makes a handful of sports cars that are aimed at the track more than they are road cars. The 765LT is one of them. A long-tail version of the 720S, the 765LT was designed with numerous track-focused upgrades in mind, including a more powerful V-8 engine. How does it behave on the race track? Well, the folks over at Carfection took it to the iconic Silverstone circuit to find out.

The review provides around 10 minutes of pure track fun, with the 765LT at full blast on the longer sections or showing off its agility in the corners. It also shows how wild it can be with the electronics turned off. Carfection agrees that the 765LT provides incredible grip for stunning lap times, but it's also fun and playful.

As a brief reminder, the 765LT is a slightly longer version of the 720S, but it's also equipped with loads of updates that turn it into a better car at the track. It's lighter, the revised body produces 25-percent more downforce, and it packs a titanium exhaust system, and an upgraded braking system.

Carfection}. The 765LT hits Power comes from the familiar twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V-8, but output was increased to 754 horsepower, 44 horses more than the 720S, a tenth-second quicker than the 720S, and tops out at 60 mph in 2.7 seconds. That's seven mph below the 720S, but it's due to the added drag.
