This Is Your Best Look Yet At The Upcoming Toyota GR Corolla Hot Hatch
You sure are enjoying this huh, Toyota?
by Isaac Atienza, onToyota just can’t stop teasing everyone about its upcoming GR Corolla hot hatch as this is now the third time that we’re getting a glimpse of their heavily camouflaged prototype. Darn it, Toyota, just show the damn thing already.
For now, this is the most revealing look that we have of the upcoming Toyota GR Corolla. During this promotional Instagram post about the GR 86, the GR Corolla makes subtle appearances while the two-door sports car drives down through winding country roads.
Do note, however, that the video that’s now posted on Instagram is now an edited version of the original clip. The initial video, which was more revealing of the GR Corolla, now shows the hot hatch in a distorted view. It then shows a three-pedal setup, which should indicate that the GR Corolla will come with a manual transmission. Or it could just be a promotion of the GR 86’s manual ’box, too.
Either way, Toyota is probably having a blast on how the public and the rest of the motoring world are reacting to its GR Corolla teasers The Japanese automaker makes no mention of the hot hatch in any of its captions, which makes them even more cheeky.
Since it’s only Toyota USA who is showcasing teasers of the GR Corolla, there’s a high probability that it won’t be sold elsewhere. After all, North America is the only major automotive market to not have the GR Yaris It’s all probably for the better since small, three-door hatchbacks are not as popular as they used to be in North America.
While Toyota has yet to confirm what the GR Corolla’s engine and drivetrain will be, all prior teasers point towards a 268-horsepower 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine that’s hooked up to a 6-speed manual, driving all four wheels via a bespoke GR-Four all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
