The Ferrari 512 TR was introduced in 1991 as a replacement for the Testarossa. The model retained most of the predecessor's design language, as well as the flat-12 powerplant, but it was quicker and more powerful. The model stayed in production for only three years and only 2,261 units were built, out of which only 408 examples were delivered to North America. Suffice it to say, finding one in good condition here is kind of rare. It is in fact almost impossible to find one with less than 13k miles on the odometer, which shows the amazing opportunity of this sale. The car is listed in California, and to nobody's surprise, the current bid is already $100,000.

This specific 512 TR was first registered in Texas and from there moved back and forth between Kansas and California for a while. As of 2020, it returned to California where it is currently being listed. The car is not only very well maintained, but it also won an originality award at the 2021 Concorso Ferrari & Friends in Farmington, Connecticut, in June 2021.

Designed by Pininfarina, this 512 TR is finished in Rosso Corsa combined with a tan leather upholstery inside. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact tires sized 235/40 up front and 295/35 at the rear. The interior is pretty much in pristine condition, but you can spot a little sign of wear on the leather instrument panel surround. The speedometer shows 200 mph, the tachometer has 7,300-rpm redline, while the six-digit odometer shows just under 13k miles (12,867 to be more exact).

Power comes from the same 4.9-liter DOHC flat-12 engine found in the Testarossa. However, the unit received Nikasil liners, a new air intake system, Bosch engine management system, larger intake valves, and a new exhaust system. As a result, it delivers an extra 37 horsepower over the Testarossa. With 422 horsepower when new and a five-speed manual transmission, the 512 TR needed only 4.8 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph, while top speed was increased from 180 to 195 mph.

The unit listed for sale had an engine-out timing belt service done in 2020, new tires were installed, and an air conditioning service was performed in the same year. Also, in 2020, the car had fresh brake fluid and the right rocker panel was repaired. Back in 2007, the sticky interior buttons were reportedly addressed by Boardwalk Ferrari of Plano, Texas. And the best part, the Carfax report lists no accidents or other damage.

So, from all points of view, this 512 TR is a must-have, especially when you consider that cars from the same year with similar specs were sold for almost $450,000. How high will this one go?
