Ford is not bringing the Ranger Raptorto the States and aftermarket companies are capitalizing on this vacuum. They are selling equipment for the Ranger that offers them Raptor-like performance and drive. The most popular products are the ones used in the Ranger Raptor as well.
The Ranger Raptor and the F-150 Raptor benefit from Fox shocks, and Roush is here to offer the same for the 2019-2020 Ranger. Roush Performance is offering a new lift kit that could transform your Ranger into a truck with the Raptor’s off-roading capabilities… well, to an extent.
What Does The Kit Include?
Roush is offering the Roush Performance Fox suspension kit that can be installed on any 2019-20 Ford Ranger. This kit comprises of new shocks for the rear and new coilovers for the front. The rear shocks are built from CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum, whereas the front coilovers consist of nitrogen-charged aluminum body shocks and tuned performance springs. These aluminum body shocks are rust-proof and help in increasing the cooling capacity. The upper mount is fitted with a bushing that betters the NVH levels by reducing the noise and vibration.
The kit also comes with an adjustable lift of up to two inches for the front end, and this levels the truck from front-to-back when set at the maximum limit.
This further increases the ground clearance and allows you to equip larger wheels and tires on your Ranger. The kit also includes two Fox mudguards for added protection. Roush Performance says that these parts can be directly bolted onto the stock Rangers and cut, welded, or harm the intruding parts in the truck to make way for equipping them.
The installation can be done with the basic tools in about four hours. The tuner even mentions that this suspension kit is validated for its Ranger truck program.
Even Ford Offers Different Kits For The Ranger
It’s not just the aftermarket companies; even Ford is offering stuff that makes the Ranger better.
Recently, [Ford Performance introduced a performance calibration->art188247] for the truck that gives the Ranger an additional 45 horses and 60 pound-feet of torque.
The kit includes a high-flow K&N air filter and a Pro Cal 4 tool which is used to install the calibration via the OBD 2 port. An optimized shift schedule for the transmission is also included that delivers crisper and precise shifts.
Final Thoughts
Roush is charging $1,410 for the package. It’s a sweet deal considering these are Fox products and are offered by a reputed tuner. Such packages make the Ranger a better off-roader. Even though the Ranger Raptor is not arriving anytime soon, such mods can take you an inch closer to getting the same feel. What do you think about this Roush Performance suspension kit?
