Porsche developed the 918 Spyder as the replacement to the Carrera GT from September 2013 to June 2015. In a different light of the 'Holy Trinity' bolstered by the mighty McLaren P1 and the gorgeous Ferrari LaFerrari, the Porsche was undoubtedly the most distinctive of the three.

By combining premium materials, high-quality hardware, and cutting-edge tech, Porsche built a car that was not only outstanding in terms of its abilities but also a visual masterpiece in terms of getting the aesthetics right with a meticulous eye for detail.

The Porsche 918 Spyder was the only Trinity car to set a publicized Nurburgring lap time, with McLaren never disclosing specific data for its P1. The Porsche smashed the Nordschleife in 6min 57sec, setting a new record at the time, and became the first production car to get around the circuit sub seven minutes.

Performance

The car is cradled in a chassis composed entirely of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic composite. The 4.6-liter V-8 is a masterpiece. The performance of the 918 Spyder mirrors that seen in the Porsche RS Spyder LMP2 Le Man's prototypesthanks to its flat-plane crankshaft, titanium connecting rods, four valves per cylinder, and dry-sump lubrication. It has approximately 600 horsepower and revs to 9000 rpm.

In addition, the 918 Spyder's gas-powered engine, the hypercar is aided by two additional electric motors. Consider the two front-axle motors, which are powered by a 6.8kWh battery pack.

When the performance data of "the big three" were compared, the 918 was not just the fastest to 60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds, faster than both the McLaren P1 and the Ferrari LaFerrari, culminating at a top speed of 211 mph. }

Of course, the brakes used to draw this hypercar to a standstill are just as powerful as the 918 Spyder's massive motor. Massive carbon-ceramic discs with six-piston calipers lie behind the car's lightweight alloy wheels, measuring 16.4" in diameter at the front and 15.3" in diameter at the back.

It also had the trinity's longest range using battery power, lowest carbon emissions, and lowest fuel usage.

Story of this Porsche 918 Spyder

This gorgeous 918 presented here is serial number 238 and was acquired by the buyer and shipped new on January 8, 2015, via Porsche Centre Hong Kong. Upwards of twenty factory options are specified in the order paperwork submitted by the customer.

But what about the paintwork on this specific 918? You'd agree that it's far from subtle. Racing Yellow against Black leather/Acid Green brake calipers with Visual Carbon Fiber trim completes the look. Most 918s are either silver, black, or white at best. This striking shade of yellow makes for a one-of-a-kind mix.

An additional front-axle lift system, leather seats sport seats and steering wheel, a glare reduction pack, and a Burmester audio system are other tantalizing options.

A number of active aerodynamic features aid the car's handling and downforce, including a retractable rear wing, a set of under-floor flaps in the front, and further movable flaps in the headlamp area.

To sum it up

The enticing options along with the large list of factory equipment, as well as the single-owner history, paperwork, and desirable color scheme, all contribute to the Number 238's reputation as being one of the best available specimens of Porsche's 918 Spyder.

At $1.23 million, this 2015 example is not quite a steal, but if you have a lot of money to spend and have set your heart on a hypercar, we are convinced that any current six or seven-figure option will be quite this appealing.
