Lancia has been forgotten in recent years, but this rally-spec hatchback will stand the test of time

Since 2017, Lancia has been selling just one car, the Ypsilon, in Italy. The iconic brand is pretty much dead outside its home country and its future remains uncertain. But even though Lancia has been struggling in recent years, its heritage is still remembered thanks to nameplates like the Delta.

Famous for its rallying success and its high-performance Integrale street versions, the Delta is arguably the most legendary vehicle Lancia has built in since the 1980s. And now you can own an incredible and rare Delta HF Integrale Evo II version for just $100,000.

Offered by RM Sotheby’s in Arizona on January 22, this is a late first-generation model built in very few numbers. Introduced in 1979, the first-gen Delta was produced until 1999, and this specific HF Integrale Evoluzione II version was launched in 1995.

The Lancia Delta went through many changes over the years. From a simple hatchback aimed at daily driving, the Delta was eventually developed into a full-blown rally car. Lancia’s motorsport efforts spawned the HF Integrale models, which were created for homologation purposes.

The first Integrale debuted in the late 1980s, followed by the Integrale Evoluzione in 1991. The Evoluzione II was the final performance edition of the Delta, showcased in 1993 and fitted with multiple updates.

Fitted with a 2.0-liter turbo engine rated at 212 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque, it was also the most powerful of them all.

It needed only 5.7 seconds to hit 62 mph, while its top speed came in at 137 mph. What makes this specific car special? Well, it’s part of the Blue Lagos limited edition, finished in a vivid blue paint with yellow accents, a Creme interior, and limited to just 215 examples.

The Delta Integrale Evo II is basically ready for racing thanks to a heavy-duty suspension, bigger brakes, Recaro seats, and a Momo steering wheel. The car on offer was completed in April 1994 and was registered one year later in Germany. It was imported to the United States in 2018 and it has only 24,240 miles on he odometer.

RM Sotheby’s estimates that the hot-hatchback will cross the block for $90,000 to $110,000. Granted, that’s brand-new Porsche money for a 25-year-old car, but it’s not just any car. In just a few years, the Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione II will become a full-blown classic and its value could go up dramatically.
