When Musk announced that the next-gen Roadster will be offered a SpaceX option package that includes rocket thrusters, it took many people by surprise. Although he said that the Roadster pack will “definitely enable it to fly short hops.”, it also meant it will be much faster than the 1.9-second claim. J

Jason Fenske of Engineering Explained worked out the math and concluded that the next-gen Roadster with rocket thrusters will do the sprint in just 1.1 seconds.

Based on this figure, a CGI artist has created a video that depicts what that specific run could look like. Check out the video in the tweet below.

CGI artist Slave Popovsky rendered this video to give us all a glimpse of what this 1.1-second sprint could look like. This is what he tweeted, “This is how fast 1.1 seconds 0 - 60mph take off should look like with Space X package thrusters on the Tesla Roadster. Computer worked out physics and then visualized in a render animation. Not sure how much gas but threw the effect in anyway.”

Musk made the announcement back in 2017 and soon said that these are the base specs. Later, he added that the Roadster will be offered with a ‘SpaceX Options Package’ that will come with “~10 new small rocket thrusters arranged around the car.”

Final Thoughts

Now, it needs to be seen if the next-gen Roadster can sprint to the 60 mph in 1.1 seconds or not. If yes, this is what it will look like. A vague thought, but do you think the Roadster will be equipped with the Cheetah stance? Not that it will help better the time, but perhaps the little bounce you see here at the launch will be controlled. Let us know what you think about this rendering video in the comments section below.
