Bugatti won’t build one, so maybe another outlet accepts the challenge
by Tudor Rus, onThe Chiron has so far served as base for quite some limited-edition Bugattis. You’ve got the La Voiture Noire, the Centodieci, the Divo, and the Bolide. True to the carmaker’s heritage, these are either honoring past models or Bugatti’s motorsport ties. However, this fan-made design study takes the French brand where it never went before: off-roading.
Neatly named Terracross, the concept explores what an off-road kitted Bugatti Chiron might look like. In that respect, it comes with chunky tires wrapped around off-road wheels, a lifted suspension, front and rear protection bars, as well as organic-design fender flares, a roof rack, and a spare tire mount.
The man behind the project is Rafal Czaniecki, who says he experimented with 3D modeling, branding and graphic design during the long pandemic weekends and evenings.
Well, from where we’re standing, it looks like Covid-19 was also a source of creativity for some of us and if those hard lockdown weeks stimulated Rafal to design and execute such a rad concept, we can’t wait to see what he has in store once the whole coronavirus madness goes away.
Coming back to the study, it’s definitely a tempting proposition when you look at it through a screen. However, given the price one has to pay to get a Chiron and the fact that turning Bugatti’s masterpiece into an off-roader would probably cost an arm and a leg itself, we don’t exactly see a customer willing to pay for such a build.
Then again, maybe we’re wrong and some eccentric one-percenter sees these renders, has an epiphany and decides he wants his Chiron turned into a mud-bashing monster.
