Why make something new when you can borrow your sibling’s good looks?

We enthusiasts are hungry people. Even greedy at times. Now that the new BMW 3 Series has finally been revealed, we can begin speculating about the 4 Series and the updates it will receive. BMW is already working on the new 4 Series, as spy shots of the 4 Series convertible with a soft top in heavy camouflage were captured. Even though they hardly revealed anything, it was enough to conclude that there will be a lot design-sharing with the 3 Series. However, now we have a rendering of the hard-top coupe, and we must say it looks delicious.

Lot Of Similarities With the BMW 3 Series

Note: 2019 BMW 3 Series pictured above, BMW 4 Series rendering pictured below.

The rendering is the 4 Series in its sportier M340i avatar with a green body shade. It is rendered with the 3 Series’ new front bumper, revised kidney-bean grille design, and new headlights. The front fenders house the M badge, whereas the M logo can be spotted on the brake calipers, too.

Expect It To Be Fast And Agile

The 4 Series will be based on BMW’s new CLAR platform, which also underpins the 3 Series and other products in BMW’s portfolio. With this new platform, the 4 Series Coupe and Convertible should be able to reduce up to 121 pounds; however, a soft-top convertible would see smaller weight savings.

Under The Hood

The rendered 4 Series here comes with the same engine as its 3 Series sibling – a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 255 horses and 295 pound-feet of torque. Power will be sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox., while an all-wheel-drive will also be optional. Hopefully, the 4 Series will be launched with a manual gearbox also.

Our Take

Renderings are something we always look forward to.

By seeing some spy shots and using the available information, we imagine what the end-product would look like. And, with today’s technology, the renderings happen to be very close to the original car itself. If we apply the same logic to this rendering, we can conclude that the 4 Series is going to look hot!
