For this week's episode Henry Catchpole jumped inside the new Morgan Plus Four, almost a year after he reviewed the Plus Six. And the conclusion might surprise you.

It's essentially an alternative to the Plus Six, powered by a six-cylinder mill, also borrowed from BMW. Unlike the Plus Six, the Plus Four comes with a manual transmission. It also costs notably less and pricing is one of Catchpole's arguments to buying the Plus Four over the Plus Six, even though it's not as powerful. Actually, having driven the Plus Six after its introduction in 2019, Henry claims that the Plus Four feels almost just as sporty.

The two cars look almost identical on the inside. Their cabins are very similar as well in terms of layout, features, and technology. But while the Plus Six can be had with a hard-top, the Plus Four is only available with a soft-top.

Both are turbocharged, both are borrowed from BMW, and both come with eight-speed automatic transmissions. But the Plus Four is also available with a six-speed manual if you're into rowing your own gears.



When it comes to power, the Plus Four cranks out 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque when fitted with the manual transmission. The Plus Six model generates 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet, so the Plus Four lags behind by only 80 horses and 74 pound-feet. The sprint to 62 mph varies on what gearbox you choose. The manual will get you there in 5.2 seconds, while the automatic model takes 4.8 clicks. The Plus Six is 0.6 seconds quicker with a 4.2-second rating. The Plus Four's top speed is rated at 149 mph, 16 mph below the Plus Six.
