You can find some amazing stuff on bringatrailer.com and this Jaguar XJS is a perfect example. Granted, a 1977 Jaguar XJS probably isn’t your first choice of platform for a performance build, but it shows that even a lazy gran tourer, like this Jaguar, can turn into a proper tire-shredding machine. It’s an ambitious father and son project that’s actually finished (yes, such a thing is possible) and now, it’s for sale.

Amongst the plethora of LS-swapped Corvettes, it’s nice to see something a bit more obscure and unique. Back in 2000, the current seller and his son pickuper up this Jaguar XJS and later modified the car with the V-8 engine. It is unclear whether the Jaguar started life as an inline-six or a V-12 car, but it now has a 7.7-liter pushrod V-8, mated to a built TH400, three-speed automatic transmission with upgraded bands, clutches, and other mods to help cope with the V-8's power.

According to the seller, the short block was balanced and blueprinted back in 2001, but the engine itself was installed in 2018. The Chevrolet V-8 features a list of impressive upgrades, which are:

-* Dyer’s Blowers 6-71 supercharger w/ 8psi pulley set

-* Dual boost-referenced 750-Cfm Holley carburetors

-* Weiand intake manifold

-* Roller lifters and roller rocker arms

-* Ceramic-coated headers

-* Aftermarket radiator with dual electric fans

-* MasterLube pre-oiling system with accumulator

-* Weather Pack connectors and Bosch relays

-* Custom wiring harness

-* March Performance pulley kit

The black exterior is enhanced by the Lister body kit, which was installed by the previous owner, as well as aftermarket side mirrors. With the blower up front and the side exhaust, the big “Jag” looks like the perfect movie villain car. It also comes with 16-inch Apex Ultra alloy wheels, with a black centerpiece and polished rims, and are wrapped in BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2, all-season tires.

Handling is improved by Spax Racing coil-overs while stopping power comes from Girling vented disc brakes, with in-board rear rotors.

Inside, you’ll find reupholstered tan leather seats and a leather-trimmed dashboard with velvet and wood inserts. Additionally, the interior benefits from new black velour carpets, which hide additional sound dampening material underneath. The Jaguar comes with air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, seatbelts with red stitching, and a Blaupunkt CD with aftermarket speakers. It also has fire extinguishers in the trunk, even though the stock Jaguar engine is long gone.

The car comes with a full set of gauges that show all vital information like engine oil temperature and pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, and fuel level. There’s also a 160 mph speedometer and a 7,000 RPM tachometer hiding behind the leather-wrapped Lister steering wheel.

At the time of writing this article, the bid is at $14,500. There are five days until the bidding is closed.

We don’t have exact power and torque figures, but from the work done to it, and that big blower on top of the big V-8, we can deduct it's plenty. It’s the kind of car that makes you want to make bad financial decisions (I know I do).
