The world can never have enough lowrider trucks, especially if they’re vintage and are customized tastefully. recently covered a customized 1968 F-100 that looks great and features a Mustang V-8 crate engine. The truck was originally a magazine project for Classic Trucks, but went on sale last year and was purchased at an auction by the current owner. Looks neat, doesn’t it?

This Is An Extensive Resto-mod Project Truck

This F-100 has seen quite a lot in its 50+ years of existence in the world. It started as flareside but was converted to a Fleetside short box by the previous owner for the project for Classic Trucks magazine. The truck was repainted in 2018 to the Avalanche Grey shade that we’ve seen on the Raptor. Stuff like weather-stripping and light trims were also added in this period. While it features a factory-style grille and bumper up front, the rear bumper is swapped in favor of a custom roll pan.

The truck rides on 18-inch Billet Magnum 500-style. It has undergone a lot of structural changes too, including being kicked two inches in the front that allowed for the wheel centerline to be moved one inch further. The ’68 Bumpside features an independent suspension up front and comes with adjustable coilovers on all the corners. As for the truck bed, it features varnished wood floor that looks exquisite.

On the inside, it comes with adjustable back seats with Mustang-style custom TMI upholstery. While the cabin may look period-specific with the custom auxiliary gauges and everything, it comes with some modern niceties like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, concealed air-conditioning, digital odometer, and even a wireless charger!

It Is Powered By A 2008 Mustang V-8 Crate Engine

Under the hood, this 1968 Ford F-100 comes with a 4.6-liter, Mustang V-8 crate engine that Ford pushed very hard through its Ford Racing program. It is paired to a Whipple supercharger. The power output is rated at 380 horses at the motor, but the owner revealed that it made 347 ponies in a dyno test at the wheels. The truck features an automatic gearbox with a 2008 Mustang torque converter that powers the rear wheels. There’s also a Currie nine-inch rear end with a 3.50:1 limited-slip differential and 31-spline half-shafts.
