It might look like the lovechild of a Ferrari Testarossa and a Porsche 911 but the two car manufacturers never worked together on such a project. It also looks like something concocted in an obscure workshop on Thailand, but it's not that either. Meet the extremely weird Rinspeed R69, a car that used to be a perfectly fine Porsche 911 930 Turbo.

You're probably asking what wrong turn this car might have taken that it ended up looking like this. Well, it started life just like any Porsche 930 before being shipped to its new owner in the UK.

The Miami Vice-y white paint you see (Rinspeed calls it Pearl White) wasn't the original color - that was Petrol Blue, yet it changed once the first owner sent the car to Switzerland's Rinspeed for extra attention. And extra attention is exactly what it got.

First, its name went from Porsche 930 to Rinspeed Porsche R69 Turbo. Then, together with the factory nomenclature, the original body kit was sent under the bus, as Rinspeed performed extensive mods, including the addition of Porsche 944 pop-up headlights, taillights, and a slanted nose.

Cabin-wise, Collecting Cars says that the interior was left pretty much as it was, and that "all the upholstery is in superb condition for its age."

The engine is said to be the 3.3-liter flat-six, but there's no mention of any power upgrades, which leads us to believe that the mill is still good for about 300 horsepower and 412 Newton-meters (304 pound-feet) of torque. So, in theory, the R69 would still be good for a 0-60 mph sprint time of 5.5 seconds.

Oh, and the odometer shows just 69,478 miles, which is not bad considering whoever buys this thing is getting Porsche 911 Turbo performances (of the 930 flavor, in any case). Then again, the hard part isn't necessarily shelling out around $60,000 for it, but learning to live with the peculiar looks.
