I don’t know about you guys, but where I’m at up here in the mountains of northern California, Mother Nature has decided to dump a winter’s worth of snow in just a few weeks’ time. It’s great for the skiing and snowboarding, but if you don’t have the right equipment at your disposal, you’re gonna have to improvise - as the folks in this video quickly found out.

Toeing The Line?

Apparently, this video comes to us from Vancouver, which just got its first big snowstorm of the season. As such, the roads are a mess, and it doesn’t take much to thwart the unprepared. And that’s exactly what happened to the yellow Prius V taxi cab, which looks like it’s struggling to get up a snow-covered hill.

Blame it on front-wheel drive, the slope, and probably some eco tires to boot. Luckily, there’s a Ford Explorer on the scene to help out.

What comes next is a bit shocking. Rather than hitching up a tow hook, the Ford decides to push the Prius up the hill, using a human being as the ram bar.

Now obviously this is a very bad idea and we want to emphasize that no one should ever do this. Seriously, if the guy on the hood of the Explorer slips, or the Prius rolls back, or the Explorer shunts to one side, the dude is probably gonna get hurt, or possibly even killed.

But, as you can see, the ploy works, and the yellow Toyota five-door scoots its way up the hill.

Next time, grab the chains and cables folks.
